FI
Feldenkrais® private sessions are known as Functional Integration® lessons. In Functional Integration, the teacher guides an individual student in movement lessons using gentle, non-invasive touch. You keep your clothes on
The Feldenkrais teacher's touch reflects to the student how he or she organizes the body and its movements. The teacher suggests new possibilities for new movement patterns which are more comfortable, efficient, and useful. Functional Integration lessons are flexible in their approach, depending on what the student needs. The student may lie comfortably on a table designed specifically for the work, or do some of the lesson sitting or standing.
A lesson can often bring relaxation, relief as new possibilities open with less work and tension. The student learns how to reorganize their movements in new and more efficient ways through the experience of comfort, enjoyment, and ease of movement.
ATM
Feldenkrais® group classes are known as Awareness Through Movement® lessons. Like in Tai Chi, Chi Kung or gentle yoga, the classes use slow, mindful movements to achieve effects in terms of strength, flexibility, and integration of body and mind. The lessons are linked to everyday functional movements, such as walking, standing, lifting, turning and finding a good comfortable posture as you sit, walk and move.
A class is usually around 60 minutes. A lesson can include walking, standing or sitting in a chair. Many lessons happen with the students lying on the floor on the back, front, or side. The teacher guides students through a sequence of movements, this is done with awareness, comfort and ease. Often muscular tensions throughout the body can be recognized and released. Students are often amazed at the quick and clear changes that happen during a lesson. You really experience the essence of “Less is More”.
